ABOUT. Marina Semenova

Biography & Artistic Approach

Born in 2001 in southern Russia, near the Caucasus Mountains and the Black Sea, Marina Semenova has been passionate about drawing since childhood. She entered the Academy of Fine Arts at the age of seven, completing eight years of study before refining her skills in private workshops focused on drawing, painting, and art history. At 18, she won a national art history competition in Saint Petersburg, securing direct admission to university.

Fascinated by French culture, Marina began learning French during the 2020 lockdown and was soon admitted to the Sorbonne to study art history. After moving to France, her artistic focus shifted toward landscapes and classical painting techniques, capturing her travel impressions through sketches and paintings. Today, she dedicates her career to artistic exploration, blending technical mastery with creativity.

Her work is inspired by the vibrancy and emotion of landscapes, with a deep connection to the richness of French scenery. From the sunlit fields of Provence to lush forests and rugged coastlines, each place carries a unique identity that she strives to translate into her art. Using oil, gouache, acrylic, and pastels, she balances realism with personal expression, capturing the fleeting beauty of nature.

By observing light, everyday scenes, and the intricate details of the animal and plant world, she seeks to evoke moments of serenity. Through a fusion of techniques, she creates a dialogue between realism and subjective interpretation, inviting viewers to reconnect with nature and rediscover the wonder of its ever-changing landscapes.
